Peptide Storage Guide
Peptides are sensitive biological compounds — heat, light, moisture, and repeated freeze–thaw cycles can all reduce potency. Here’s how to store both unreconstituted powder and mixed solution correctly, for every peptide in our catalog.
Storing Powder (Lyophilized)
- Freeze for long-term storage. −20°C keeps unreconstituted peptide stable for many months.
- Refrigerate for shorter windows. 2–8°C is sufficient if you’ll reconstitute within a few weeks.
- Keep it dark. Store in the original vial/carton, away from direct light — UV exposure degrades peptide bonds.
- Keep it dry. Moisture accelerates degradation; keep the vial sealed and avoid condensation.
- Avoid temperature cycling. Don’t move vials repeatedly between freezer and room temperature.
- Let it warm up before opening. Bring a frozen vial to room temperature first to avoid condensation forming inside when opened.
Storing Reconstituted Solution
- Refrigerate immediately. Once mixed, keep the vial at 2–8°C at all times.
- Don’t freeze after mixing. Freeze–thaw cycles can break down the reconstituted peptide for most compounds.
- Use bacteriostatic water where possible. Its preservative helps inhibit bacterial growth and extends usable life versus sterile water.
- Mix gently. Swirl the vial softly — don’t shake vigorously, which can stress and denature the peptide.
- Label the vial. Note the reconstitution date so you always know how long it’s been in solution.
- Check before each use. Discard if the solution looks cloudy, discolored, or has visible particles.
